I'm afraid it's going to have to stay in place for the time being. There was an incident tonight - Jennie, Marius, Kyle and Crystal were attacked in the city. Crystal is back here in the infirmary and should be fine, but the other three are missing. We're currently searching for them, but until we are at least clearer on what happened, all students need to stay on the grounds.

Ms. Munroe will be in her office this evening, if anyone needs to talk. The Professor and I will be occupied with the search. As soon as we have news that we can share, we will.

People are, apperantly, easy to missplace. You p ut them down somewhere nice and obvious, like on the arm of the couch next to you, or in a restaurant in the city and then you lose them.

As they haven't been found yet, they're lost. Probably someplace that's actually both blindingly obvious and hard to find (as they haven't been found yet), like under the metaphorical couch cushions.

If you were as fantastic as me, you'd understand this anaolgy. I'm sorry if its too complicated for you.

What interests me about it is that you've chosen to characterize this as a problem of negligence rather than malice. You're saying they've been lost by the people responsible for them--and in the house, as it were, no less--rather than having been stolen by someone passing by. You further seem to think that only gross incompetence explains why they haven't been found yet; after all, they're being kept somewhere "blindingly obvious." In short, you're a blithering idiot who thinks it would be a good idea to put the people who are doing everything possible to look for your brother under even more stress by subjecting them to extra flagellation on top of what they are already, no doubt, doing to themselves.

And people wonder why I don't want a staff position here.

My god. You seem to have missed the point - the whole couch cushion thing was what we call a "metaphor". Do you know what they are? They're a figure of speech that involves using a simple example to explain something more complicated. In this case, my brother, Jennie and Kyle are missing. They're currently lost. When we have found them, they will no longer be lost.

Three students, who the school has a duty of care towards, VANISHED yesterday. We don't know what happened yet but guess what we do know? That the school's duty of care was probably breached, because they were allowed to get in a situation where someone could KIDNAP them. We're not going to know anything else till, guess what? We've got them back again.

Finally, the staff are all adults. I'm so sure that my (rather understandable) desire to get Marius back is going to be the thing that finally sends them all around the bend and turns them into tutu wearing construction workers who think they're llamas. Yes, I'm going to be the one who does that. For fuck's sake.

Exactly my point, which the girl was too busy finding different ways to indulge in scornful hyperbole to acknowledge. It's unrealistic and uncharitable to assume that the staff is at fault every time something goes wrong, and this time--especially since I got there too late, and I think I may be pardoned for assuming very few people could have gotten there sooner--events were outside anyone's control but the kidnappers'.

I'm all for calling you people on the carpet when you do screw up, mind, but target convenience is no excuse to get carried away.

Do you know something more than I do? Because nothing up there says that Marius didn't jump them out of there. They were attacked. They vanished. Getting themselves out of the way would be the same thing to do.

I want them back as much as anyone. I don't think we can assume that vanished is the same as kidnapped.
