The basics are relatively simple. Have you seen baseball on television? It's like that, only hitting is a lot easier because the ball is thrown underhand instead of overhand. Granted, there's also fast-pitch softballers who can throw really fast underhand, but for a casual game like this (at least, I can hope it _stays_ casual), I doubt that'll be a problem.
