question...

[livejournal.com profile] x_crowdofone and I had an idea, and I figured I should run it past all the official types (no, I can't read your thing, but that doesn't mean I don't remember where it is in the system. :p)

Anyways, we were wondering if we could have a BBQ next weekend. [livejournal.com profile] x_crowdofone volunteered to grill (including corn on the cob!) and I'm gonna make cookies and potato salad. Other chefs would be highly appreciated, and if you want to come you should R.S.V.P. here so we know how many burgers and stuff to make.

So, can we do this Professor? And can we get somebody to take us to the grocery store on Friday to get supplies?

Ahh! BBQ!

I am a master at running the grill. :)

Excellent. I could definitely use the help--by the time I was old enough to run the grill myself back home, we weren't really having many guests over, so I'm not used to serving this big a crowd.

Hey, since I just got here--how are we fixed for grills?

[identity profile] x-cannonball.livejournal.com 2003-05-19 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Got plenty. No worries. Too bad JohnJohn's not around anymore to fire 'em up for us...

John-John? Friend of yours that left, or something?

I can make the many meats and vegetables on a stick food!

I could drive, sweetie. I'd love to help.

Speaking as an official staff person, it sounds like a great idea to me.

And I'll come along on the grocery run, unless Marie would rather do it on her own.

Either way, if Charles isn't willing to foot the bill (which I'm sure he will be), I'll cover the expenses. It can make up for the fact that I can't cook to save my life.

Thanks, Ms. Munroe!

Ooh, hey, before we put together the grocery list, is anybody veggie, or, I dunno, have weird mutant-related diet things? Because we should think about that.

[identity profile] x-jubilee.livejournal.com 2003-05-19 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
guess i might show up.

[identity profile] x-jubilee.livejournal.com 2003-05-20 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
ummm...i know we aren't on the best of terms now, i'm working on it, i'll tell you about that later.

but naw there isn't anything food wise i want. i can ask the professor about the fireworks. i've been working on color specific too, even though it's not useful in...well battle situations. but yeah, i'll talk to you later.

Hmm. Interested in braving my baking abilities for dessert? And I'm thinking fruit-salad, too... Very very neat idea, Kitty.

[identity profile] x-cyclops.livejournal.com 2003-05-20 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
Excellent idea, Kitty. We all could use some fun.

What about homemade fries? I know we have a fryer in the kitchen somewhere (I remember seeing one) though I don't think I'd be the safest person to be around it...

I could try to talk Hank into it... but I'm afraid he'd try to do something gadgety to the fryer, and then we might have to fight off sentient fries or something of the sort. ;)

If the offer still stands, I'd like to help.

Sounds like you have all the meat settled, but what's an outing without leafy greens. I could make salad for the masses and I wouldn't mind helping Theresa with the desserts. I don't think bringing strawberries and cream would be too much, but I could always go with watermelon for simplicity's sake.

I can't fathom a picnic without smoked salmon. Is anyone else interested in at least trying it?

[identity profile] x-siryn.livejournal.com 2003-05-20 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for offering to help me! I appreciate it, and strawberries sound like an excellent idea.

[identity profile] x-crowdofone.livejournal.com 2003-05-20 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, Ms. Braddock. I wasn't thinking about veggies beyond corn-on-the-cob.

And I'll give the smoked salmon a try. Haven't ever eaten much fish.

I'd love to come Kitty.
