If you want to see what your grades are before the report card comes out (final exam and overall score), I have the class list up by my door. Student number so everything is confidential, not to worry.

If there are any questions about how you did, feel free to hunt me down before I leave tonight. I'm finishing a few experiments up and then packing, so I should be fairly easy to locate.

The texts for the summer courses in Arabic and Mandarin have arrived (finally). Those taking these courses can either pick them up from me today before 6pm or wait until the first class, depending on how keen you are. The text for Arabic is An Introduction to Koranic and Classical Arabic by Thackston - it's a good, solid grammar with supplementary readings from the Koran. The Mandarin text is A Practical Chinese Reader by Liu, which is at least a decent start - I've ordered a companion volume for it, but it won't be available for a few weeks.

The classes will both have their first meetings on June 14th - Arabic at 2pm, Mandarin at 3pm, both in room 122. After that they'll be held twice a week, three hours at a time. We can come to an agreement as to what days/times would be best for everyone at the organizational meetings. Because we're only meeting twice a week (in order to allow for flexibility in vacation-time and so forth), you'll be expected to do a fair amount of conversational practice on your own time, as well as the usual grammar/translation exercises. So you need to find yourself a 'buddy' - if you want to do that ahead of time because a friend is taking the class, go ahead, but if not, we can pair people up at the organizational meetings. We might have to have a couple of trios, depending on what the final numbers are.

You can email me with any questions - Moira and I will be taking the laptops to Santorini, silly people that we are - and hey, if anyone wants to sign up for either and hasn't talked to me yet, that's fine, too. Ordered extra textbooks and all. Likewise, if you want to take either or both of the courses but aren't going to be here that first week, email me. There are at least a couple of people in that situation that I know of already, so it should be easy to get you all caught up together.

The Askani music research will be starting roughly on June 14th and continue for, well, as long as needed. Those who had dreams and mentioned wanting to participate already should sign up in this post.

We'll be going through individual meetings first in the recording studio, without any intervention at all, move on afterwards to the telepathic sessions and then go on as described in my first post on the matter. The first individual meetings can take from a half day to a full day, depending on the scope of the dream you had.

Note: There is no obligation for anyone to undergo the telepathic sessions if this makes them uncomfortable - this is on a volunteer basis only.

It's on a first come, first serve basis as to the time slots, so we're working with one person per day for the first set. All I need now is the order, I'll post up the final result when it's time.

Ever since the Skippy incident, I know there are people who have been having a hard time with the things they had to do. I understand, I’ve been struggling with it myself.

I’ve been running some experiments these past few days, mainly for Jamie’s sake. I think everyone might be interested to hear some of the things I found out.

Skippy went through a great deal of genetic manipulation. To the point that it actually damaged his genetics. We all saw the results of a dupe falling unconscious or going into shock, not what Jamie’s dupes normally do.

From the way his cells were degrading, it seems that Skippy was dieing. Probably in a year, two at max if he didn’t use his powers too much, Skippy himself would probably have gone through much what his dupes went through. But, well, much slower over a period of time.

For myself, I’m still struggling with what I did but some of this helps, in a way. Skippy and his dupes…weren’t going to live a full and healthy life. In fact, it probably would have been much more painful than anything that happened to him before hand.

The damage is pretty extensive, to the point that had he been captured we would probably not have been able to reverse the damage.

Does it make it ‘right’ what I had to do? I guess that’s for each of us to decide. Does this help ease the fact that I had to do it? Some, yes. Surprisingly.
