I'm now back from Muir Island for the foreseeable future and it isn't with good news.

I know things have been a little muddled since we last updated everyone but it seems we're at an impasse. Darcy Lewis was injured last month during our incursion into the Paris Hellfire Club. What initially looked like minor injuries accelerated during her hospital stay and following her transfer to Muir. I'm not a doctor but from what I'm told, the injuries cost her control of her powers and in turn, the random discharge of those powers began a debilitating effect on her brain and nervous system. Unfortunately, because of the nature of her powers, using suppression technology ran an unacceptable level of risk in shutting down her nervous system and neural processes at the same time. In order to preserve her life, Darcy has been placed in an psychically induced coma by Professor Xavier.

At this point, until Moira and her team can isolate the uncontrolled power surge and reverse it or find a way to suppress her powers while she's conscious without compromising her vital functions, she'll remain in her coma. Moira is aware of all the various avenues, including magic, and may reach out as expertise is needed. If you have any medical questions, please direct them to her team at Muir.

Unfortunately, due to the situation accelerating as quickly at it did, she did not have the opportunity to reach out to the people she wanted to. I have a few notes that I'll deliver personally over the next few days. I'll also be returning to the office full time tomorrow. We can update how to deploy her duties amoungst the team then. It's all over the news right now, so I suppose everyone should understand what's happening. Yesterday, at 8:14am CET, the citizens and visitor to the resort town of Jaca, Spain all simultaneously violently attacked each other. They formed into rough mobs and used any item at hand to attack other mobs. We managed to get some people on the ground who confirmed that by the time we got there, all higher order mental function was completely wiped out and nothing with left save the need for rage and violence. Spain eventually appealed to SHIELD who sent in the Avengers to help pacify the situation. The few surviving citizen remain in their state of rage even despite restraints, ignoring injury to continue to attack. The current deathtoll is already over 13,000 people, with a few thousand more still unaccounted for. Just to be clear, that is a 100% casualty rate for this community. They have been wiped from the face of the Earth.

By now, you've likely already seen the image that has gone viral. A white male in his mid-twenties wearing a kind of red armor, standing still and untouched in the midst of the violence. We tracked him down. His name is Abraham Kieros, a former Marine who was paralyzed from the neck down in a training accident. He has no history of mutant abilities of any kind. He also disappeared from a US military hospital while being transferred to home care. We also determined that the armor held a symbol which is connected to a group called Clan Akkaba. We've run into Akkaba in the past, and they serve 'the Son of the Morning Fire', which is typically vague as cult messiahs go. We have no idea why or how they accomplished this atrocity in Spain, but they're obviously connected.

So, to skip to the end, this is being blamed on mutants on social media and in the tabloids full stop. This is the most significant action of terrorism using a mutant since Srinagar was wiped out 15 years ago. The politicians are already calling for action. Spain, the EU and SHIELD are all currently on the same page that there isn't enough evidence to draw any conclusions as to what happened which is about the only positive to come from this shitshow. Just be aware, this is going to ratchet up anti-mutant sentiment in places you may least expect it. Take that into account for the next while.

The name is particularly appropriate right now. There's been several accidents on the 684 and the 22 northbound and due to the heavy snowfall, the MTA is reporting normal service to Westchester is currently offline. It looks like those of us working at Snow Valley are going to be overnighting it in the city. If there's an emergency, talk to one of the teleporters.
