Sarah and Jono have returned, alive and well, as have all those who went to retrieve them.

Ms. Frost, however, remains missing, and it seems likely that she has been taken captive. I have every reason to believe she is still alive, and we will bend every available resource toward finding and rescuing her. At the moment, all that can be asked of most of you is that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

All of you have known more suffering and loss in the past year than anyone should, and you have responded with such unbroken spirit and unconquerable resilience that would humble prouder men than I. You each give me hope for the future. Thank you.

Dear students,

I feel a re-introduction is in order. Several new students have arrived recently, and even those who have been here a while may have seen little of me, due to my other commitments, my sabbatical, and my inability to take on a full teaching schedule prior to this time.

I was fortunate enough to meet most of you at the psychic defense classes, and will be making time to extend that course to those of you who arrived too late to benefit from it. I hope I'll get to know all of you a great deal better in the coming weeks.

Now, let me give you a little information about myself. My name is Emma Grace Frost. You can call me Emma or Ms Frost, I really don't care, so long as you don't call me anything else, least of all 'professor', Ms Emma or 'ma'am'.

I hail from Boston, where I used to be a headmistress at the highly respected Massachusetts Academy, now sadly closed. To date, I've been little better than a substitute teacher at Xavier's due to conflicting demands on my time, but starting in the summer term I will be taking on a full timetable of classes covering Business, Media, French, Psionics and Psychic Defense. If you're interested in any of these classes, come and see me or drop me an e-mail. I will also be available for private study and small tutorial groups, as and when my schedule allows.

I am a telepath. I also have a secondary mutation, a hard diamond 'change form', but you'll seldom see me use it at the school.

I'm a businesswoman. I head a company named Frost International, which is a very high profile company in the fields of electronics, ship building and aircraft manufacture. Primarily, I'm concerned with the boardroom aspects of the business, but I've picked up a few things about electronics and design in my time, as you'll discover if you care to visit me in the new FI workshop next to Henry's laboratory. I won't be offering any formal instruction in those disciplines.

There are other things you'll no doubt hear about me, most of which are true. You'll hear I used to belong to an organisation involved in some suspect political affairs. This is true. You'll here that my parents had me committed while I was a teenager because I could hear voices in my head. This is also true. And you'll hear that dozens of students at my last school were massacred. This, it pains me to say it, is also true. If you have any questions about these matters or anything else I've mentioned today, or if there's anything else you'd like to know, you are welcome to ask me.

We are all here to learn, children, and we are all here to teach.

Thank you for your time,

Emma.

Dear students;

We seem to have stirred up some unpleasant vibrations in the school this afternoon, and we would like to apologise. Our confrontation was in no way, a "cat fight" as some of you may have thought. Rather, as teachers we sometimes voice a difference of opinion and like to discuss our viewpoints, and sometimes we may do so a little too forcefully.

However, we remain very close friends. Close enough that a few well-placed jabs won't do us any damage, though we appreciate it may have a knock-on effect for some of you, which we regret. Even though Emma may appear menacing, she's nothing of the sort, most of the time. And though Betsy may seem a little soft sometimes, she's more than capable of handling herself.

So, we apologize for any confusion this has caused, and ask that you not let it worry you too much. We have spoken privately about Sam's poem and agree that it shows tremendous talent, and we will both look over his piece again and offer our constructive criticisms.

With love,

Elisabeth Braddock and Emma Frost.

Hello students,

I thought I'd write you a little note to let you know how I'm getting on. I'm sure you must miss me terribly, but don't worry, I'll be home within a week or three.

Some words of advice. Never go to Geneva, it's a frightful place, and the Swiss are tedious people. I cannot for the life of me see the appeal of skiing. Nothing will induce me to wear a padded pastel bodysuit, and I have no desire to flail about looking like a monkey on polished mahogany. One simply cannot ski with poise. One cannot fondue with poise either, but there's a lot to be said for those little forks and molten cheese.

It has at least been a useful trip, as I've finally hired my new bankers, leaving the old ones wretched weeping shells of men who will never again see beauty in sunlight thanks to the passing of my great glory, and so on and so forth. All men are essentially wretched, children, never forget that lesson.

Speaking of which, when I return I shall be revising the business studies curriculum to reflect all the exciting new things I've learned these past few months. In the meantime, Mr Worthington, I hope you're still collating those press links and cuttings I've been sending home. There's a comparative business journalism module to be unravelled from all that.

You're always in my thoughts, children. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a flight to catch to Paris, where champagne and dancing will be in my thoughts, but I assure you you'll still be in there somewhere. I'll bring you back some salacious French movies if you're very good.

Love always,

Emma Frost.
