As we have just completed our first week of classes, which you have all approached with an admirable energy and confidence, this seems an apt time to welcome you all to a new year here at the school. We have a great many new faces this September, and I would like to remind all students, both new and returning, that my door is always open should you require a listening ear, whatever the reason.

Sadly, we must bid farewell to some familiar faces this month. Kylun, as he has explained on the journals, has decided to relocate to Scotland to become better acquainted with his newly discovered family. Catseye has departed as well, for similar reasons, and will be living with her brother this fall. I am sure you all join with me in wishing them both well and encouraging them to keep in touch.

It has been a difficult summer for all of us, I know. But I would encourage you all to regard this September as a fresh start and a chance to move forward. Our society is greatly in need of young people who can stand as examples of the best that mutantkind has to offer. Those seeking such examples need only look within these walls, but it is as important that we continue to reach beyond these walls, especially after the events of this summer. I would welcome any ideas from the student body as to ways that we might do that, and the staff and I will do our best to faciliate those ideas.
