As Kyle's mentioned in his journal, there was an incident at the rally on Friday with Sabertooth, whom you're all at least familiar with from the list of people in whose vicinity you should strive not to be. Kyle found himself in a situation where that wasn't possible, but handled himself extremely well - because he did precisely what he should have done, the staff there were able to intervene and prevent Sabertooth from doing what he was there to do.

I hope you'll all bear with me, in that I can't get into a lot of details as to why - we've been talking a great deal to the Secret Service, understandable in a case where there's been a serious threat to someone like Senator Creed, and need to keep certain things confidential. Suffice to say, that is why Sabertooth was there, and that's why we had to keep things relatively quiet until things were resolved with the authorities. The fact that we had an unexpected emergency trip yesterday got in the way of doing that, but at this point, all of those issues are settled.

I just wanted to emphasize that this is not a case of him targeting the school or a particular student. The Senator was his objective, and we have no reason to believe that he has any interest in anyone here at this point. I will say, however, that Kyle's actions on Friday made it very clear again to the staff how important the emergency procedures we hammer into your heads are. When they're needed, if they're followed, they work precisely as they're supposed to work.

Hah. Well, of course he wasn't targeting the school. Now I almost miss being undercover.

Yes, that's patently obvious now. You'll let me know if there's anything the Secret Service wants to do for me, yes?

If we find out that Buckethead the Master of Magnet sent him to off the senator I owe myself fifteen bucks and I'm going and getting a burger.

Nah. Actually I'll just go have a burger anyway. I need cow.

You go right ahead and do that.

That wouldn't make any sense. Senator Creed's actually seen as one of the politicians who could make sweeping changes for pro-mutant legislature. You'd think action against him would only hurt any cause Magneto's trying to obtain. If he's just going against human political figures in general, it wouldn't make sense to go after Senator Creed specifically.

But then again, if there's some deeper plan, I'm no good at figuring those out.

I suppose that makes a sick sort of sense. It just all seems so counterproductive, but that's because I look at things through the lens of rationality as opposed to Erik looking at them through crazy-colored glasses.

It's things like this that give me momentary thoughts of forsaking my beliefs in pacifism and nonviolence. Sorry, Pietro - I know he's your father and all, but there are times I'd rather just orchestrate a satellite falling on him from orbit and save the world a lot of trouble.

The only things you need to apologize for are first, coming up with an unlikely and needlessly complicated solution, and second, making sure that solution--even if it did work--would add to my father's legend. When he answers to society for all of his crimes, when they are enumerated and made public and, finally, he is found guilty and put to death as the law demands; when his name goes down in history not as a conqueror, but as a criminal and a madman, that will be the fitting end.

So, in short, apology accepted.

Oh, I completely agree. Doesn't mean I don't occasionally want to take the easy route. But it's not about what I want, it's about what's right.

And it's really not that hard to drop a satellite out of orbit if you know what you're doing.

No, but dropping one onto Magneto is not likely to do what you would want it to do.

He would probably send a nice thank-you note for the lovely hand-delivered ballistic weapon he redirected into a populated area, though. I mean, say what you like, the man does have good manners.

The Sabertooth Man is looking to be very scary. I am being glad Kyle is not being hurt, and I am promising to follow the rules.
