Substitute Teacher

Those in my science classes will have a substitute teacher for a few days while I recover from a mission. The assignments given last week are still due by the end of the week. I am still reachable by e-mail for questions.

Still in Attilan. We're on our way but we're wrapping up a few things before we go. I'm actually about to board the plane in about a half an hour.

Rest and relaxation are indeed what I would recommend for a patient with a similar diagnosis.

If only I had someone to watch the movies with when I returned...know of anybody who might be good?

I'd volunteer myself but I'm a bit of a fidgeter I've been told so it probably shouldn't be *just* me... maybe we could recruit a certain French Canadian for the task?

I know a foul-mouthed short Canadian who likes cigars, a dry-witted Canadian with a propensity for stab wounds, and a pointy-eared Canadian who doesn't need a car to go 60 MPH on the highway. That's a lot of Canadians.

The French-part does narrow it down somewhat, however, but I don't think I'd mind two out of three on that list were also invited. Actually, more than that would be nice: Ones with wings, ones that are blue and disappear and reappear in a puff of smoke like magic....

I think the brain damage and the monthly brush with death has left me feeling social.

If you weren't a doctor who knew a lot more about this concussion stuff than me I'd question the wisdom of partying so soon after the brain damage, but you are and you do so I'll just shut up and say that sounds good to me! Too bad Logan's not around but yeah, two out of three Canadians ain't bad and guys with wings and guys who are blue and disappear and reappear are always good fun!

My plan was one movie then retire and let everyone watch the rest on their own. I figure I can make it through one at least.

Wait, what?! THAT'S your plan?! That's... there's something just not right about that! Saying you want to be social and invite all these people and then ditch out?! No! That's something you do if you're trying to set two people up or like... arrange a sting or entrapment or something! I now have this mental image of you doing the comic wolf tiptoe out of a room with the tinkly sound effects while you twirl your comic wolf moustache just before the Acme bomb blows up!

Okay that sounded corny but I don't want to ruin the chance for people to have a good time just because I can't be there for all of it. We need to have some fun to let off steam every once and awhile otherwise it'll come out of our ears.

Well, okay, but I think we're talking about two different things now, because letting off steam and having fun doesn't really seem to go together with concussion recovery in my mind.

Oh, well it was less that I didn't think you could handle it, more just that movies are more of a concussion recovery event in my mind whereas letting off steam and having fun is more akin to going out to a bar or something? Although that way of thinking may be a throwback to my past life...

I'm on painkillers. Can't drink. Can't fight in the danger room. Sadly, the only way I have to blow off steam is to yell at the TV with my friends.

Well okay but wouldn't you rather watch sports then instead of a movie? Hockey has a lot of physical violence and aggravating shots on net; many opportunities to yell! I still tend to think of movies as more of a quiet pursuit I suppose. Or are you talking about one of those cheesy horror movies where you yell at the dumb co-ed for going into the woods alone in the middle of the night in her teddy? (and yes I love those movies so I'm just asking to get a better understanding of what you want to do!)
