Megan journal thoughts:

Hmm... I'm going to say today is extra lucky. Because the ancient Egyptians thought that the 13th stage of life was related to the afterlife, and that made it lucky. And maybe that's where the black cats connection comes from?

Or today could be extra unlucky, according to Norse mythology. 12 gods were at a banquet at Valhalla one day when Loki, god of mischief, who was not invited, turned up. And that led to chaos and death.

OK so maybe it's a lucky day for everything except party-crashing.

Loki is a jerk, I am not at all surprised he crashes parties.

Yes, that is a thing that happened. Also Odin and Sif, but not Thor, curiously.

Yes, real people. There was a dimensional travel incident on accident that sent several of us to Asgard.

It was interesting. We spent several months not washing enough and only eating enough because one of us was able to set things on fire.

The real Norse "gods" somewhat failed to live up to the legends. Odin was a bit of a pervert, Sif was awful to work with and Loki was a jerk.

I actually do not know if they are immortal. Certainly they seemed rather hard to hurt and long-lived, but I never questioned if they were capable of dying.

I have several times today heard that Friday the 13th is significant. I am curious as to why.

It's something to do with the number 13. Some people simply believe that it's just plain unluckier on a Friday the 13th than any other day in the year. And that everything that goes wrong for them at that specific moment is because of that day. Or that it's lucky for other people at the same time, like Megan said.

...but I don't know why it's that specific day other than that, or even a Friday, because that one superstition about broken mirrors bringing seven years of badness, and walking under a ladder does something (besides having the paint fall on your head when someone is working) to invoke scary, scary things is supposed to be year-round.
