As I've mentioned elsewhere, this weekend's snowfall hasn't been a big one. Bigger ones are coming, though, and a few things will be done over the week. Storm windows will be going up - so anyone who's gotten into the habit of treating their windows like they're the front door is going to have their habits changed.

Also, those of you who think the roof is your lounging and hangout spot - there's a gazebo for that out back. I can already count some broken roof shingles, and that means leaks in the attic. Leaks in the attic mean I'm going to have to tear out the insulation up there and replace it. Which in turn means I'm going to be crawling through a dusty attic dragging fibreglass insulation all over the place.

Short version for those who aren't following along: no sitting on the roof, or you'll be tacking up new insulation in the attic until the job's done. Anyone who's got any questions or wants to volunteer to install storm windows, catch me during the week, or let me catch you on the roof again.

Chuck - I took the liberty of checking the storm windows, and about half of them need to be replaced, and before the next big storm comes in. I got a few quotes that I want to run by you, as well as an idea for the west lawn's grape arbor come spring. I'll run them by your study tomorrow.

Hrm. Really random question here... but say, maybe for next summer - would it be possible to put a platform up on the roof somewhere, for the roof dwellers among us? It'd save wear and tear on the shingles and all that jazz, too.

You'd be surprised, actually... Beyond habits acquired since they've arrived, we do have a couple for whom it's pretty deeply ingrained to seek out heights, in a gut reflex "need that" sort of way.

(Personally, I'm all about using the benches and stuff for myself. Only heights I'll do are the skating ramp, and Kurt's gym class.)

As I'll apparently be...

wandering the hallways aimlessly for a while...

Do you really need a hand?

I have absolutely no experience doing anything even vaguely carpenter-like, ever, but I'm good at following orders.

Managing to put an IKEA bookshelf together, doesn't count, right?

I can help too. I'm sure a strong colossus would be of help, no?

If you still need help with the storm windows there's always at least one of me around, and I've been helping winterize the creaky old farmhouse my great-grandpa built since I was big enough to see over the windowsills.
