After tonight's little concert on the second floor, I suppose Miss Blair's music class is paying off. I'm not building anyone an ampitheater, though.

And speaking of building, a couple folks have brought up the idea of a skating rink, which I think is a great idea. I've got a set of plans for an old one that was meant to be built in the area where the basketball courts are now, but something tells me that's not the best area for skating. So, like someone suggested, the tennis courts can be readily converted.

Regarding freezing the lake - I'd advise against it. A few years back there was a massive cold snap that froze the lake over before the ground, and it messed with the water table for the next couple of months. The tennis courts (all four of them) can be converted into a rink that'll be big enough for a large enough group.

So - anyone who wants to get their hands a little dirty, this Thursday I'm going to be taking a truck down to Salem Center and picking up the materials. Saturday and Sunday will be construction days, so if anyone's got any tennis matches lined up, get to playing. No one's going to be drafted into this who doesn't want to be, and if you do volunteer, keep in mind that I'm going to expect you to do some serious work. There's no football this weekend, so you don't have to worry about missing the game.

And speaking of the game - weekend after next is the big one. Since I owe Madrox and his two half-pint roommates some ice-cream-type refreshments, Harry's is the place next Sunday. I'm picking up the tab for you three, and the game'll be playing on that big-ass projection TV down there for any football fans. That way, the folks who are too highbrow and cultured for some good old-fashioned American traditional sports can stay in the mansion and watch Bergman films, or Heidi, or whatever.

Ice rink volunteers, see me before next weekend. Anyone who's not grounded or otherwise stuck at the school is welcome to tag along for the Super Bowl party at Harry's. No, there is no karaoke.
