Who'd be up for a Star Wars night? The original trilogy DVDs are out soon (or possibly are already, not sure) and it's been a while since we had an official mansion movie night.

Anyone interested?

Feh. These are not the original triolgy DVDs you are looking for. These are George Lucas not leaving a good thing well enough alone. ;-)

Well, I'm a stickler for the originals as he released them in theaters. The DVDs are the Special Edition crap he put out on video a few years back. But then, I fully recognize that I am a biased fanboy, so...*shrug*

Oh ye of little faith, of _course_ I have tapes of the original originals. However, I've got a lot of work to get done, so I think I'm going to have to beg off. :-(

Of course

Of course you have work to get done. You always have work lately.

After having to practically drag you out to the benefit last night, I should not be surprised.

I"m definatly up for that! I haven't seen those movies in ages and all the commcerials for the DVDs are making me want to see them something awful!

And I dont' think I've ever seen the original originals...there's a difference?

Well, for one thing, in the originals, Han shoots first. And I've heard talk that Lucas is dubbing in whatsisname played Anakin in Episode 2 at the end of the third one when all the ghosts show up, instead of . . .

Y'know. That's funny. The original guy played Anakin's ghost was named Sebastian Shaw. So Shinobi's probably all in favor of the change. :)

Bald and pasty Sebastian Shaw is much better than the one I know. Not to mention infinitely better than what's-his-face (who names their kid Hayden?). Woe.

Hey, now, Craig T. Nelson's character in "Coach" was named Hayden, and he was pretty cool.

You think your dad leaned on Lucas any to make the change, though? So that the name Sebastian Shaw would forever be associated with bad muttonchops instead of wheezy dying guys and/or translucent blue bathrobe-wearers?

umm...you guys do realize you have completely lost me...

He's lost me, too.

Jamie, did you just call Craig T. Nelson cool?

I'm the only person who ever watched "The District," aren't I.

Excellent. Back me up here on Craig T's cool factor. :)

Maybe, but you specified his character on Coach, so bringing in a completely different show hardly proves the point.

And he still isn't cool. He's Craig T. bloody Nelson.

Hey, now, I liked "Coach." It was funny. Dauber could've been any one of a number of different seniors at my high school.

That's the guy.

Actually, hey, since you like "The District," mind if I float some dialogue past you sometime for one of the TV show ideas I'm playing with? I'm sort of stealing the premises of successful shows and adding mutants, right now, to get practice for coming up with my own ideas later, so there's Buffy The Mutant, Seinmutantfeld, and Law and Order: Now With More Mutants.

And yeah, that's how the folders are organized on my computer. I'm bad at titles. ;)

Sure, Hayden Fry, based on the real coach at U of I over in Iowa.

Or am I letting my midwestern roots show again?

Angelo, there're copies of the original original on VHS _and_ laser disk (psh. Laser disk. Who uses laser disk?) in the library, as well as VHS of the remastered (but unedited) originals. And I think the Professor ordered the DVDs of the quasi-atrocities, but I'm not sure. We got another big box from Amazon the other day, but I didn't have time to go through it yet.
