I made it, I believe, quite clear that Amanda was forbidden to use her healing magics save at great need, for the sake of her health. Great magic puts a great strain on her body, and could do permanent damage. Apparently, however, I failed to emphasize this enough.

Therefore, I will make myself very clear indeed. Nobody, NOBODY, is to ask Amanda to perform any act of magic for them, for any reason whatsoever. Not a finding spell, not a charm, not the levitation of a pencil. Since clearly concern for her health is not a sufficient deterrent, perhaps the prospect of personal punishment will do the job.

This subject is not open to debate. Nobody is to take this up with Amanda, or in any way make her feel guilty for not being available to be taken advantage of. I trust that this is sufficiently clear to everyone.

I may not know how Amanda's powers work, but I do know what physical effects they have on her. And while I will not tell her not to use them, I *will* tell her to use them very cautiously, for now. As I said below, she is still young, and she is still learning. It's a question of degree, Forge... I wouldn't let you walk into a nuclear reactor, I wouldn't let a novice flyer attempt to cross the Atlantic alone and unaided, and I won't let Amanda be killed or maimed because someone pressurs her into taking too many risks with HER powers.

What you mean to say is that you would advise me against it, and trust in my own judgement when it comes to my own abilities. And I'm sure that you mean the same were it to apply to Amanda.

If Kyle asks me "Hey, can you make me something so my toes don't tear up the carpet?" - I'm going to help him. Just as I know to say no if he asks "Hey, make me an electro-death ray so I can go wreak havoc on the populace of Salem Center". Yes, Amanda may choose to overextend herself from time to time helping out her people. And if that's too much on anyone's conscience, let it be between them. I'm sure Amanda was forthcoming with Jay about the risks of what he asked for - I happen to know them quite well - and any repercussions should be between them, if you ask me.

Forge, I would not only advise you against it, I would actively restrain you if necessary. You are a student, and we are responsible for you... and really, while hugely dangerous, there's not likely to be anything in a nuclear reactor that I can't repair myself. Were it necessary, *I* would go. Your safety, like Amanda's, is my responsiblity. I would not let either of you put yourselves in unnecessary danger.

What Amanda chooses to do, I repeat, is her own affair. My original post didn't question her judgement, Forge. It questioned everyone else's. And frankly, the outraged insistance that you should all be entitled to ask whatever you wish of her - for the sake of *her* freedom of choice, of course - is not doing anything to improve my opinion of it. If you are so determined that Amanda should be free to do whatever she wishes, then why are you arguing the right of others to pressure her to do things she doesn't necessarily want to?

Small point. Amanda's currently on a "no unnecessary magic" regime, for herself. Now, if you're banning her from helping others - and as she's said, how's she supposed to know to offer, if people aren't allowed to ask - you really are kind of banning her from doing magic mostly or at all.

Also. There's a difference between asking her once to do something and backing off if she seems not to want to, even if she doesn't actually say no, and pressuring her.

I've discussed this with Amanda - and apologized for overreacting. Although given the outraged response to the order not to make demands of her, I'm starting to think I overeacted less than I thought. She is, if she wishes, free to make offers in advance 'If you need any magic help, let me know', and that sort of thing. To those she trusts not to take advantage of it. I just don't want her to get hurt yet again because she can't say no to people.
