So, with all the Star Wars fever going on, for the education of those of us who haven't actually seen this epic yet, how about a marathon movie session this weekend? Start Friday night with the first three, continue Saturday night with the second three? If there's the set up for it - and hey, we live in a mansion and there's plenty of tech geeks, so there probably is - we could even do a projector screen somewhere large enough for all comers. That old ballroom, maybe? BYO blankets, pillows and movie snacks.

My dream

I just woke up from a weird dream. I think my subconscious has finally decided that I'm not a kid anymore. But being an adult is terrifying. Also, Lizard People.

I've recently returned from a trip to the old country with Ms. Amanda Sefton and I FOUND kids to bring back to the school! I guess this is what can happen when you go on a field trip as an adult. They are 15-year-olds Clea Lake, Bas Druid, and Stephen Strange. I feel very certain that their young fates are intertwined with ours. Also, Cata! She is Clea's companion and a sentient being, so please act accordingly.

Two of the teens are magic types and one can shift forms. Why does this sound like a riddle? Well, I just want to give them the chance to introduce themselves and their powers - they'll be arriving on Monday! I know you'll help them feel welcome here after Ms. A and I wore down their guard and convinced them to come.

To anyone who might have heard some strange noises from the laboratories just now, there is nothing to worry about. A few people accidentally caused a situation down there, but it is well in hand now and has been dealt with. There is no lasting damage to the mansion, I just ask that everyone stays away from the laboratories until the clean up operation has been completed.

So, in between the end of school and having to chase Topaz down in India, I've missed a couple of weeks. But now I've got my shite sorted, we're back! Tomorrow's lecture is on Magical Dimensions, including a section on internet memes that are actually real. We'll also have a Q&A on Asgard, seeing how we have three recent returnees (and a few less recent ones) who can talk all about the pros and cons of living in a magical realm.

Hey all! There's an arts and crafts fair this Sunday in District X. I don't have a stall, but I'm going. Anyone else want to go?

Thanks to all who came to the talk today - I hope you enjoyed our Guest Speaker, the lovely Ms. Tandy Bowen.

Anyone got any questions they wanted to ask? I know we ran over time and didn't have the chance to do our usual Q&A afterwards.

With the help of some of the teacherly types, I've gotten together a syllabus for my infamous "How not to meddle with the occult" class. This year, since there's a lot of new faces both with the Gen X program and just generally, we're throwing open the doors to anyone who is interested.

When: Thursdays, starting @6:00 p.m.
Where: The sunroom on the first floor, central wing.
Who: Amanda Sefton, with assistance from Topaz and Megan Gwynn.

Class 1: Introduction, or "Magic: It's not all Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings."

Class 2: Demons, or "Yes, demons are real. Here's how to avoid them."

Class 3: Magical Dimensions, including a section on internet memes that are actually real.

Class 4: Artifacts, or "Don't touch the glowy rock."

Class 5: Magical Rules and Ethics, or "Why we don't pester our magically-adept classmates to raise the dead."

As usual, Gen Xers are required to attend, but if anyone else is interested, say so in the comments. Depending on attendance, there's usually food afterwards. ;)

So Adrienne and I were talking while shooting things with arrows this afternoon and we thought, since Memorial Day's coming up this Monday, it'd be fun to do a Field Day/Fair type thing so everybody could get together and have fun. Like three-legged races, bean bag tosses, a dunk tank, food eating contests, egg races, climbing contests, obstacle courses, rock climbing, ultimate frisbee, baseball, archery. We're taking ideas for other stuff, so feel free to make suggestions. Also, lots of food, mostly grilling, and swimming in this lake people keep telling me about if it's warm enough. Or there's a pool, right? So loads of stuff for everyone to do. Everybody should come. Yes, there will be alcohol for people who're legal.

Despite the broken window and small fire on the lawn, we are not under attack. A new resident was simply slightly overwhelmed by modern technology.

The fire has been dealt with. I will be getting Illyana a new computer as soon as I've collected the glass and covered the window. In the meantime, Illyana has been referred to her iPhone.

I have an announcement with regards to Cerebro, the telepathy-enhancing device that I have previously used to locate mutants.

As I explained previously, my stroke has reduced my telepathic ability to a significant level, to the point that I am no longer able to use Cerebro. Additionally, the backlash of losing so many minds at once during the "M-Day" event has damaged Cerebro beyond repair, such that anyone else trying to use it would suffer similar damage to myself. I cannot allow anyone else to take this risk.

Therefore, Cerebro will be decommissioned and dismantled. I have confidence in the abilities and resources of the various individuals within the mansion to be able to fill the gap created by this action in terms of locating new mutants and providing assistance when they are in need of it.

If you have any questions, please feel free to speak to me in my office.

Professor Xavier.

Hello to you all, old and new faces.

You may have heard that I was recently ill. That is correct - as a result of the events of New Year's Eve, I suffered a minor stroke and was confined to the medlab for a time.

Today I have been granted my release papers, so to speak, and while I have been expressly forbidden by Drs. Reyes and Voght from performing the full range of my previous duties, I hope to be back in my office sooner rather than later. There is much to be done.

I would also like to offer my assistance to anyone suffering unduly from recent events. While my telepathy is, unfortunately, greatly reduced for the time being, my more "ordinary" skills, including my counselling abilities, remain intact and my door is, as it always has been, open for those needing my help.

My thanks to the medical staff for their care and concern over my well-being. It is good to be back among you all.

Professor Charles Xavier.

Alright folks.

I've heard rumours, and I know everyone's itchin' to know what happened yesterday. Here's the facts.

Magneto was at Muir. It was an ambush, and we sure felt it. Too many injured to count, and I know y'all are gonna wanna help as much as you can, but the medlab is busy. I'm sure the good doc will let us know if she needs anything.

We lost some people. Matt. Sam. Tabitha. Catseye. Yvette. They died fighting. I ain't gonna spin any bullshit 'bout how they died for a cause or whatever. No one's life is a pawn, but they went in fighting and they did what they had to do and they did it as best as they could. People's lives were saved. Let's remember and honour them right.

Magneto is dead. Let that sink in for a minute. He's dead. That's all I'm gonna say about that man. He didn't deserve how he went, but he's gone all the same.

Muir Island is no more. There were no survivors. I'm sorry for everyone's loss.

Jean's gone. I'm in no position to say anymore, cause I sure as hell don't even know what I saw myself.

Remember, everyone grieves differently. Please, respect each other's space if needed. I'll be in the medlab this morning, but if you see me around, and you need to talk, let me know. Hell, text me even. I got my phone on me, and I'm a good listener.

Because of the extreme cold weather warnings in New York and other places today and tomorrow, Red X is calling for help providing blankets, food and shelter for the homeless who are exposed. They are especially looking for those who have heat powers (for helping keep people warm while places are found for them) and for those who can stand the cold for a long time (for staying out and looking for people without getting frostbite themselves), but anyone is welcome who is wanting to help.

Let me know if you are interested and I will make the arrangements. Tonight especially is going to be very cold out there.

Fred has just received word that his uncle is very ill and he is leaving to take care of him. He is not sure when he will return, and he is sorry he could not say goodbye in person.
[identity profile] x-avier.livejournal.com

You may be aware that we have successfully located and retrieved Miss Abbott and Miss Collins. They are currently in the medlab; Hope has sustained some bruising and broken ribs and should be able to return to her own room soon. Laurie will be staying in the medlab longer; she is physically well, but she has acute sleep deprivation and will need to rest.

Questions regarding visits can be directed to the medlab staff. Questions regarding the circumstances of their absence can be directed to myself.

Professor Xavier

Maybe tea?

Hey all - So I just went down to check on Ishmael (the mutant from the District X art fair if you haven't seen my colorful report already), and it seems to be good news all around. He's up and moving around and even complaining about having to through rehab for the stroke and missing a semester of art school. Which considering what could have happened, seems pretty minor as far as bad things go. So yay happy endings?

So in case anyone hasn't heard, things got a bit crazy at the art fair in District X today. A mutant named Ishmael got a bit out of control and accidentally brought all the paintings to life. He's down in the med lab now - not quite sure about his condition, have to ask the doctors about that - but everyone from the school that tagged along is alright - if not a little shaken and in need of about a dozen showers to wash all the paint and stuff off.

If you have any questions I'll be in the kitchen trying to write a report.
