It is also now clear that the abduction of our people from the rally was a deliberate act by the Genoshan government, as an act of retaliation for our actions in to assist Phillip Moreau and Jenny Ransome. For my actions. They know there are a number of pro-mutant organizations connected to the Institute, and that we have some degree of support from the government. They also know Magento was one of the founders of the school. And, finally, they know there is some connection between the Institute and the X-Men.

They know far too much and have apparently drawn the conclusion that the Institute is a training facility for Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants. In their eyes, we are all terrorists and what they have done is justifiable in terms of self-defence.

Their terms are simple; if there is any interference in Genoshan affairs that emanates from the school or our allies, those taken will never be seen again. If we cooperate, they will be slowly returned so long as we continue not to interfere.

This situation impacts us all and there will be numerous discussions regarding what our next step should be. This is the first of those discussions. Please, speak your minds - we are, in this case, all together in this.

Charles.

Time is of the essence, so I will keep this brief. Using Cerebro, I have determined those students and staff members who disappeared from the rally were in Genosha, before I lost all trace of them. I will continue my efforts, but they have disappeared from detection for now.

I am also currently attempting to contact someone from the Genoshan embassy or one of my contacts there to get information as to why they might have been taken there.

Greetings all:

As you may have noticed, Spring has began making its presence felt. And with Spring comes that most time-honoured of traditions - Spring Cleaning.

The mansion is, as you may have noticed, very old and very large and the vagaries of the last winter have taken their toll. As Mr. Gibney and Mr. Dukes have multiple responsibilities, I have decided to lighten their load by holding an open day, as it were, inviting all residents, past and present, to come along and assist in repainting, replanting, reshingling and all the other tasks that have accumulated throughout the winter. Students that participate will earn credit towards the community service part of the New Mutants program, and we will be offering food and refreshments for all those who attend.

I hope to see you there, new faces and old.

Professor Xavier.

Greetings, all:

We will be having two temporary guests at the school, Phillip Moreau and Jenny Ransome, who will be staying with us temporarily before relocating to Muir Island. Some of you may recognise their names from recent news stories; they have come to America seeking asylum from Genosha, and I hope you will all make them feel welcome.

Thank you,

Professor Charles Xavier.

Greetings, all.

As has been noted, this weekend will be Parents' Weekend, when we open our doors to the parents, guardians and family of not only our current high school students, but our graduates and college students as well. I hope the staff will join me in welcoming our families and answering any questions they might have.

For those students without family, I understand that it can be a difficult time. I believe there is a movie and pizza outing, arranged and supervised by Mr. Wade Wilson and Ms. Marie-Ange Colbert, and I encourage you all to take part. To that effect, the school's mini-bus will be available for transport.

My door is always open to those who may need to speak with me about arrangements, and I fully encourage anyone with difficulties to speak to staff, our student counsellor, Mr. Haller, or the RAs.

Attention, everyone.

I have some serious news to impart to you all. On Friday, the mansion was attacked by four men under the direction of Parker Matthews. Some of you may recognise the name - Matthews was responsible for the 'Jane' incident several years ago. We had believed him to be in a coma; unfortunately, it appears that his powers had evolved and he was using Dr. Jean Grey-Summers like some kind of psionic parasite, to boost his psionic influence.

During the attack, those in the mansion were sedated and locked in the Danger Room and then pushed into a series of nightmares. A bomb was also planted in Cerebro. Demands were made, but it appears the true motivation for the attack was revenge.

Our attackers were defeated by a number of current and former mansion residents who had been outside of the mansion at the time of the attack, as well as several others who managed to extricate themselves from the nightmare. Those who were forced into nightmares were awakened and Matthews and his men are safely neutralised. The bomb was defused by Sarah Vale, working with Dr. McCoy and Doug Ramsey. There was some damage to the mansion in the process.

There were also, unfortunately, casualties. During the nightmare, Sophie Stepford suffered severe psionic trauma and sadly, did not survive. Her sisters are currently being cared for. Dr. Amelia Voght is also believed to have been killed during the attack. Kyle Gibney is currently under observation following being implanted with a psionic suggestion and attacking some of the residents. He is not to be considered dangerous, however, and is expected to recover fully.

Finally, Dr. Grey-Summers is currently in a coma following her defeat of Matthews. Her condition is stable, but I cannot say at this time when she will awaken.

I would like to stress that everyone, barring those I have mentioned, is safe and well. Arrangements have been made for most of those involved to go to Hampton Beach while the mansion is repaired and the security is revisited.

This is a very difficult time for all of us and we will all need to be there for each other. I appreciate your co-operation and assistance.

Charles Xavier.

A reminder

Good evening everyone:

While it is not my habit to police the journal system, recent behavior has been brought to my attention and I have been required to intervene. The specific situation has been addressed, however, I would like to remind everyone that the mansion is intended to be a safe place and haven for all. Clashing personalities and disagreements shall happen, but all residents are expected to respect the rights of others to live here free of harassment, threats and violence. To that end, there will be no hazing of any kind tolerated and I would like to reassure all students that it is not a tradition that Xavier's fosters in any fashion. Should anyone find themselves made to feel uncomfortable within the mansion they are encouraged to speak to the resident advisors, other staff or myself directly. All such concerns from students, residents or staff will be taken seriously and addressed accordingly, I assure you.

Freedom of speech is a right we all enjoy, but it is also a responsibility. We must all learn that words are as powerful as any mutant ability and guide ourselves on the journals accordingly.

Thank you.

Professor Charles Xavier.

Good afternoon, I have two announcements to make.

The first is, for those of you with connections to the West Coast Annex, that Scott Summers has asked me to pass on the news that for the next two weeks, the Annex inhabitants will be visiting Hungary as part of a training and fact-finding exercise. As you may know, Hungary has a team not unlike the X-Men and Scott and the West Coast team have been invited to visit with them.

Secondly, I will be away from the mansion for a period of time, including Thanksgiving. I will be going to Muir Island to visit the individuals undergoing treatment there and lending my assistance to the staff. I should be back in the first week of December.

I will miss our yearly Thanksgiving dinner, but I am sure you will soldier on without me. And Lorna, please be good enough to save me some of that pumpkin pie of yours? It would be a great tragedy to miss out on it entirely.

Thank you,

Charles Xavier,

Good morning, everyone.

As you no doubt know, the new school year is fast upon us and as part of preparations for that, I have the rooming allocations for the next semester.

Due to a decrease in the numbers of resident students, we will be returning to the three-room suites.To that end, there will be the following arrangements:

Suite 1:
Room 1: Nico Minoru and Megan Gwynn;
Room 2: Klara Prast and Doreen Green;
Room 3: Meggan Szardos.

Suite 2:
Room 1: Esme and Phoebe Stepford;
Room 2: Celeste and Sofie Stepford.

Suite 3:
Room 1: Leyu Yoshida and Nga Manh;
Room 2: Leong Manh

Artie Maddicks has requested alternate arrangements, and thus he will be sharing a senior suite with Julian Keller.

I would like to remind students that Jean-Phillipe Colbert and Yvette Petrovic are the current Residential Aides, and are available for assistance in any issue, including any arising from living arrangements.

Also, in order to consolidate space on the senior floor and to encourage our resident guests and graduate students to interact, we will be instituting compulsory room mates, except in the circumstances where it would be dangerous or distressing to do so. The following assignments have been decided:

Suite 1: Cammie Black and Laura Kinney;
Suite 2: Laurie Collins and Jean-Phillipe Colbert;
Suite 3: Amara Aquilla and Yvette Petrovic;
Suite 4: Julian Keller and Artie Maddicks;
Suite 5: Kyle Gibney and Jared Corbo;
Suite 6: Monet St Croix and Angelica Jones;
Suite 7: Alexander Lexington and Fred Dukes;
Suite 8: Janet Van Dyne;
Suite 9: Jean-Paul Beaubier;
Suite 10: Kevin Ford;
Suite 11:Marius Laverne.

If you need help relocating, there are plenty of people to assist. I wish everyone a safe and productive school year.

Thank you.

Good afternoon.

No doubt you are all aware of the earthquake that devastated Pakistan last week. I have just spoken to Dr. Vasco Di Alvito and Dr. Jane Watts from the Red Cross - they are requesting urgent help from the Red X team at a refugee camp in North Pakistan. They have come to us following your work in Sri Lanka and Afghanistan - they know what you are capable of.

In light of the scope of the situation, I would like to ask that the New Mutants who aren't part of Red X also consider going, along with any staff that are available.

The group will be departing Wednesday evening. Please let either your teachers or myself know if you are willing to help.

Hello, everyone.

Due to a number of circumstances, we have seen several departures from the school. In order to ensure full communication, I have decided to announce the details of those departures for you all.

As he announced, Nathan Dayspring has moved to New York proper, in order to run the new Elpis headquarters that has been set up there. The boathouse, at this time, is vacant. He will be available for consultation on matters within Elpis' ambit, so he will be seen around the Institute on occasion.

Jean-Paul Beaubier, Jeanne-Marie Beaubier and Shiro Yoshida have gone to Muir Island for powers training and personal assistance. Danielle Moonstar has also sought help with her powers, on Attilan, where she hopes to complete her college education.

Noriko Kikuchi has returned home to Japan, to reconnect with her parents and to complete her final year of high school. Johnny Gallo has returned home to assist in his father's recovery, and Victor Borkowski has gone home to help care for his ill mother. Sarah Vale has also returned home to her family.

Scott Summers and Dr. Jean Grey are currently on vacation, however they will not be returning to the school. In order to expand the West Coast Annex to more than a training facility, I have asked them to relocate there. With the aftermath of Day Zero and the San Diego earthquake, it is less and less safe for mutants in this country, and it is apparent that the current team is under considerable strain. To this end, I am establishing a second team at the Annex, to be created by Scott and Jean.

In order to cover those classes previously taught by those who have left, a number of the existing teachers have stepped up to take those on. I hope the students will cooperate with them and make this transition run smoothly.

I thank you for your patience during this difficult time and I wish the best to all those who have moved on. If you have any questions, my door is, of course, always open.

I'd like to bring your attention to the imminent arrival of a new student, Miss Klara Prast, who will be joining us tomorrow. Miss Prast comes from an Amish community and as such has little experience with modern technology. She has also spent some time being held by someone using her for her mutant gifts, so she is understandably somewhat confused and uncertain. Your assistance in making her transition to the school as smooth as possible would be appreciated.

Hello, everyone.

As a number of you might already know from personal goodbyes, three of our residents have recently left for opportunities elsewhere. Tatiana Caban has decided to accept an exchange to Attilan's school for mutants, joining Cessily Kincaid. Tommy Jones has transferred to the West Coast Annex for further training opportunities and Alex Summers has left for Hawaii, where he plans to pursue further educational opportunities in his chosen field of geology.

I hope you will join me in wishing them all the best in their endeavours.

Charles Xavier - Headmaster.

Hello everyone.

The school year has finally ended and no doubt you are all looking forward to your well-deserved summer vacation, students, college attendees and teachers alike. I commend you all for your hard work, patience and maturity during the last academic year.

Before you all scatter hither and yon, I do have some announcements to make regarding some members of the school:

As some of you already know, Ms. Theresa Cassidy has returned to Cassidy Keep upon finishing her studies, to be with her husband and to continue pursuing her chosen career within Interpol with her father.

Karolina Dean, having successfully passed her exams, will be returning home to California and will be attending her previous school after the summer.

Miriam Cross and Talia Lewis have both graduated successfully and have chosen to leave Xavier's also - Miriam will be returning to her family in New York, and Talia has chosen to go forth on her own, moving into Salem Center and continuing her studies at Westchester College.

I hope you will join me in wishing our alumni all the best of luck in the future. Have a very safe and enjoyable summer, all of you. You have earned it.

- Professor Charles Xavier.

Good afternoon, everyone. I hope you are enjoying the spring weather as much as I am.

Given the welcome influx of new students and the various demands on the staff, I have decided to enlist the help of one more residential advisor. Danielle Moonstar has been approached and has agreed to assist Jan in the role of providing support and resources to the students.

To clarify, for those students who have not had experience with an RA before, the RAs are responsible for ensuring the safety of students by making sure they are aware of and follow the various rules regarding safety, assisting the students to work together and resolve personal differences, foster personal development, provide a listening ear and to assist staff in matters regarding to discipline. Students are encouraged to seek out the RAs for informal discussions about problems, and the RAs will assist as they can, or call in help from other sources, such as myself, the teachers or the school guidance counselor Mr. Haller or the school therapist, Dr. Samson. The RAs are to be considered another resource available to students, to help them at the school.

I have the utmost confidence in all of the RAs and hope you will all cooperate during the transition period.

Conference

Apr. 3rd, 2009 01:24 pm
[identity profile] x-avier.livejournal.com
As you may have already seen mentioned on the journals, there is an international conference on mutancy and global security in Erfurt, Germany this weekend. I have been invited to attend and I will be leaving shortly for the airport, with Kurt accompanying me. Ms. Lilandra Neramani, sister to the Indian Prime Minister, has organized this conference, the first of its kind, as a venue to explore various issues arising from recent events and I look forward greatly to participating in these discussions. A number of the Institute's staff and students are also attending; I will see you there and I would encourage you to share your experiences and thoughts with your peers on the journal system.
[identity profile] x-avier.livejournal.com
In an effort to increase cooperation between Xavier's and the local schools and to expand the opportunity for extra-curricular activities, I am pleased to announce a new initiative in conjunction with Salem Center South High School. Students from both Xavier's and Salem Center are invited to join in a production of A Midsummer's Night's Dream, to be performed in April. There will be opportunities for any student to participate, be it performing, assisting in costume, lighting, sets and so on. Staff volunteers are also requested, to assist in the production. Auditions will be held on January 30, 2009 at the Salem Center Community Center, with transportation to be provided. If you are interested, contact Mr. Sefton, Mr. Beaubier or Ms. Van Dyne for further details.

This is a valuable opportunity to create connections between Xavier's and the local community and I strongly encourage everyone to get involved, even if it is to attend the performance. I know I certainly intend to be there.

-Charles Xavier, headmaster.

As some of you may already be aware, we have a new face in the mansion. Mr. David North is an old friend of Logan's and is visiting for a short time. I trust you will make him feel welcome and offer him any assistance he might need.

Charles was in Cerebro when the GW Bridge came down. He's gone into psychic shock, and we're doing everything we can for him, but I don't know when he'll come out of it. Just... you guys needed to know.
[identity profile] x-avier.livejournal.com
As some of you are aware, there are some significant changes in store for the school in the upcoming year. I have always hoped that the time would come when more of our students could come for the powers training they need, then return to their homes to complete their education in their own communities where they could serve as positive examples for other young people, both mutant and not. I believe that things here in the United States have progressed to the point where that is possible for at least a good portion of our students. Consequently, I have been in touch with many of your families to begin discussing the situation.

I do want to stress that the school will not be closing. It is true that the student body will likely be considerably smaller than it has been in past years, but I expect the school to continue in full operation, offering the same range of opportunities to students as it always has. Some of you require more extensive training, or do not have the necessary support to return home to your own communities; others may simply find the environment here at the school more to their liking, for one reason or another. All of you are welcome to stay if you choose. It is my hope that if you do, you will also benefit from the opportunities provided by the Institute. There are potentially some very exciting possibilities for you, not just for our staff and resident graduates.

Finally, I would like both staff and students to join me in thanking Mr. Summers and Ms. Munroe for their years of devoted service as your headmaster and headmistress. Because the student body will be smaller, and because the bulk of the work involved in setting up the Institute is now drawing to a close, I will be taking up that role once more after the end of this term. I look forward to becoming re-involved in the everyday life of the school. Scott and Ororo have carried a very heavy burden of responsibility for a long time, and done so admirably. I hope that they will now have the time and energy necessary to pursue more of their own goals.
