As part of the music class, I'll be taking students out to a few concerts and shows during the summer.
You can check out listings of who is on tour or what shows are playing here and here - stick to the NY area obviously, when selecting a suggestion. You can look up other resources too for info as well, of course.
However, this is hardly restricted to only the music class students. Anyone else, students or staff wanting to see a show should speak up... I still have a few contacts in the industry and should be able to get good tickets to most anything.
Shows I'm thinking of going to myself in the near feature:
And would you look at that. Looks like the Sex Pistols will be in town too this summer...

Date: 2003-07-06 08:02 pm (UTC)Do you think if we went we could camp, or would we be coming back every night? I mean, it's in driving distance, so we could...

I'll print out the schedule and take a good look at it tomorrow to see if I know any of the bands playing, and then we can get together and you can tell me which must be seen at all costs? :)
Re:
Date: 2003-07-06 09:23 pm (UTC)Hmm... how many of us do you think will be going? Because you may need an extra chaperone...
EFO must be seen. Dar should not be missed. If they're going to be there this year I'd kill to see Railroad Earth (and Sam'd like them, they've got Bluegrass tendencies...)

Date: 2003-07-06 08:41 pm (UTC)The Falcon Ridge thing sounds cool. My mom likes folk music, she'll be jealous if we get to go. And camping would be fun.
Re:
Date: 2003-07-06 09:13 pm (UTC)*hugs* We'll find a cd to get for you mom. Do you know what she's already got?
